The new Shoreline Junior High, home of the Shoreline Sharks, is located at West Side Drive and Weaver Lane in Layton, UT. Shoreline Junior High is sitting on 22.65 acres with a student capacity of 1,400. This Junior High includes: a common area near the main entrance that doubles as a cafeteria and auditorium, a gym, classrooms, library, etc.
Ensign was hired by Davis School District to provide the site civil design. The project consisted of working directly with Davis School District, while coordinating with the project architect, VCBO Architects. Ensign worked with the District and the project team to coordinate and prepare construction documents. Ensign coordinated the design aspect with Davis School District, Layton City, North Davis Sewer District, VCBO Architecture and project specific engineers and architects. Ensign also created a schematic design, design development plan, construction documents, specifications, and construction administration. A unique challenge to this project was evaluating the potential floor elevations of the building to determine if the water table is too close to the finished floor plan. They elected to raise the design by two feet.
